| 2. What sort of holiday homes are available in France? | |
Frenchleave.com handles a selection of self-catering rental properties,
or gites, from holiday flats and apartments to barns, cottages, houses,
villas and even the occasional chateau. They are typically available by
the week, turning-over on Saturdays.
| 3. How much does it cost to rent a gite? | |
Prices vary through the seasons, but normally range between £200-£600
per week for a gite which accommodates more than one couple - the shared
cost is tiny compared to hotels.
| 4. What facilities can I expect at my gite? | |
Part of the charm is that every gite at frenchleave.com is totally unique
- you can almost certainly find one at a level of luxury that suits your
needs. All provide (at least) the basics you need for a self-catering
holiday. Some can provide linen, others prefer you to bring your own.
Cleaning services can often be added for a small extra fee. Use of facilities
such as gardens, swimming pool, tennis court, and even fishing rights
are available in a few.
| 5. Is it complicated to book a gite? | |
Frenchleave.com makes it as simple as possible - by putting you directly
in touch with the owner; no middle-man, no time-lag, no extra paperwork
- in fact, no nonsense at all. Most owners will ask for a small deposit
at booking time, and require a few weeks advance notice of cancellation.
Many are happy to show you around on arrival, and can help you make the
most of the French region you will be visiting, with tips from grocery
shopping to fine restaurants.
| 6. How do I put my gite on frenchleave.com? | |
Please send your details to frenchleave.com via the form
provided. It helps us to help you if you can provide plenty of pictures
of your gite(s), exterior and interior, to give potential visitors a clear
sense of the character of your gite. We can collect these from another
website, from e-mail, or lift them from normal photos posted to us. Frenchleave.com
limits the total number of gites listed per region to 20, to ensure yours
will always receive the attention it deserves.
| 7. Why does my gite not appear in (e.g.) Google searches? | |
It does, but it depends on what you type in. We specialise in last-minute
searches - try typing in last-minute
villas france - and you'll see we're consitently No.1 on Google!
Additionally, all frenchleave.com pages are submitted to several main
search engines, including keywords to help visitors using other European
languages find your villa or gite. The main factor determining a particular
page's rank is normally the number of other websites which link to your
page. Frenchleave.com recommends all members consider spending a day getting
to know tourist web resources for their region, and can advise how best
to approach webmasters at those sites to ask them to link to your page.
| 8. What support can you offer for my web problem? | |
Frenchleave.com is happy to help members with any difficulties accessing
their account, uploading new information and pictures, or linking their
availability calendar to their own websites elsewhere. In some cases,
we can help with maintenance problems on other websites. We can't solve
problems involving the utilities which connect a user to the internet.
