Below can be found a quick guide to costs, time, distance and services available for your journey through France along its major motorways.  Costs vary and should be cross-checked with the relevant company's web site for the latest prices.

Top Tip  Avoid queuing for toll booths by using the lanes marked "CB" (carte bancaire).  Toll booths accept most major credit cards, but few people in France use them.  The automatic toll is fast and simple: insert the credit card into the left hand slot, press the button for a receipt, retrieve both and drive on. (Don't however, confuse the CB lanes with those displaying a radio signal, which will not work unless you have a transmitter.)
