The Villa
Chez Gauthier is a spacious modern villa located amongst vineyards and fields of sunflowers in the sunny Southern Charente.
The villa is in a quiet, peaceful rural location in the small hamlet of Montchaude, a 5-minute drive from Barbezieux.
The villa sleeps 8 people with one king-sized and three twin bedded rooms. The bathroom has a shower cubicle in addition to the bath, and there is a separate toilet. The kitchen is fully equipped for 8 people and has an electric oven with separate hob, microwave, fridge/freezer etc.
At one end of the villa is the spacious 40ft lounge/dining room with French doors opening onto the large south-facing patio. It is fully equipped with comfortable furnishings including two sofas, two easy chairs and a large dining table to seat eight. There is a large open fireplace and has a radio/CD player, a selection of games and books, a DVD player and video recorder.
There is also a large garden room, which opens onto the patio.

There is an extensive patio overlooking the garden, and a smaller one outside the kitchen overlooking the fields and vineyard.
The main patio is equipped with sunloungers, garden table and chairs, as well as a large stone barbecue.
The rear garden is laid to lawn with extensive fruit trees. Guests may help themselves to plums, cherries and peaches when they are in season.
There is also a children's play area with swing, sandpit, paddling pool, etc.
Chez Gauthier is located in tranquil, picturesque rolling countryside ideal for walking and cycling. Barbezieux has full facilities including supermarkets, banks, restaurants, leisure centre and swimming pool. It has two weekly markets. The Chateau, which overlooks the town, is worth a visit and it also houses the local tourist office
Chez Gauthier is ideally situated for Cognac and Jarnac (visits to the distilleries), Angouleme (pleasant riverside town, the capital of the Charente, with interesting old buildings, Jonzac (castle and large water park), Aubterre (one of the outstanding villages in France), Bordeaux, Royan (beautiful beaches and pine forests) and La Rochelle (a fortified port with preserved old town).
