We are close to the town of Saint-Lo, the town of horses. Situated
in the heart of Normandy, 50 miles from Mont Saint-Michel, in the
proximity of the Normandy Landing Beaches, Saint-Lo has lived through
7 centuries of military life and 3 centuries of prosperity, to become
the Capital of ruin's in 1944. Today completely rebuilt it still possesses
that characteristic charm. Saint-Lo is also renowned for the most important
stud farm in France with over 100 stallions. There are many events organised
during March to September, and the town is well worth a visit. Saint-Lo
is a market town offering fresh produce from local farmers and fishermen,
including other outlets such as furniture, clothing and flowers.
La Chapelle now offers evening meals, which Sophia prepares and cooks. She enjoys visiting the markets to purchase fresh local produce. If guests want something special then all they have to do is ask Sophia who will endeavour to cater for them.
La Chapelle now offers a fully fitted gîte able to accommodate 2 adults, 2 children & a cot. The gîte comprises: Ground floor - fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave, dining room/lounge, bathroom. A modern spiral staircase takes you to the second floor, which is split to offer one double bed, and a set of bunk beds. There is also room to accommodate a cot. Views from the upstairs windows are of gardens and fields. Just outside the gîte is a lovely area to sit and eat by the stream, and to enjoy the peace and quite of the countryside. Climbing frame and swings are available for children. The main house offers Bed & Breakfast, and evening meals, which are also available to the occupiers of the gîte by prior arrangement.
Whether
you are looking for a central base from which to explore Normandy, or
just passing through, La Chapelle with it's peaceful location is the perfect
choice.
